CICC Files Cybercrime Complaint Against Respicio

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has filed a cybercrime complaint against Atty. Jeryll Harold Respicio over his social media posts allegedly inciting sedition or rebellion.

Press Conference Details

During a press conference at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) office in Pasay City on Friday, May 22, 2026, CICC Undersecretary Aboy Paraiso announced that the complaint was lodged with the NBI for violations under the Revised Penal Code in relation to Republic Act 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

“This is a case of crime against public order committed online, and we do not tolerate such acts… We’ve been advocating for the responsible use of social media, and we expect this especially from professionals and public officials like him,” Paraiso said.

Evidence Collected

The evidence gathered by the CICC includes screen recordings of Respicio’s posts on social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, which allegedly called on the public to launch a revolution against the government.

One of the social media contents is a video uploaded on May 19 to Respicio’s Facebook page, which has 1.1 million followers. In the video, he asked his viewers if they were ready to start a revolution, and it contained text that read, “revolution is the answer to the constitution that does not work.”

Potential Penalties

If found guilty, Respicio could face imprisonment of six years or more. Additionally, Paraiso revealed that Respicio’s social media content may be subject to takedown measures through the CICC’s partnership with Meta due to the alleged crimes against public order.
