The Lapu-Lapu City government will temporarily return to a regular five-day workweek starting Monday, May 25, 2026. The city had previously suspended its four-day work schedule after Eid'l Adha was declared a regular holiday nationwide.
Official Advisory
In an advisory, Mayor Ma. Cynthia "Cindi" King-Chan announced that regular office hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. will resume next week. This is in line with Proclamation No. 1264, series of 2026, which declares Wednesday, May 27, as a regular holiday for the observance of Eid'l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice.
Chan clarified that government offices will remain open on Friday, May 29.
Background
The temporary four-day workweek was initially implemented by the city as a measure to address regional energy and economic concerns. The shift back to a five-day schedule is a temporary adjustment due to the holiday declaration.
Residents, visitors, and clients are reminded to plan their transactions accordingly and complete urgent matters before or during the upcoming week.
