On May 24, 2026, the 2026 Palarong Pambansa officially commenced with a grand opening ceremony at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Governor D.O. Plaza Sports Complex in Agusan del Sur. A total of 13,000 delegates gathered to mark the start of the national sporting event.
Competition Schedule and Participating Regions
The multi-sport competition will run from May 24 to May 31, featuring athletes from 18 regions across the Philippines. Various sporting events are scheduled throughout the week, showcasing the country's young talents.
Defending Champion NCR Leads the Pack
The National Capital Region (NCR), the 18-time defending overall champion, enters the competition with a strong track record. In the previous edition, NCR dominated by securing 117 gold medals, 70 silver medals, and 50 bronze medals.
Other top-performing regions in the last Palarong Pambansa include Region IV-A, which placed second with 47 gold, 68 silver, and 66 bronze medals. Region VI secured third place with 44 gold, 54 silver, and 58 bronze medals. Meanwhile, Region VII finished seventh with 25 gold, 32 silver, and 52 bronze medals.
The 2026 Palarong Pambansa promises intense competition as athletes from all over the country strive to bring glory to their respective regions.
