Albay Agri Damage Hits P6.64M from Mayon Unrest

The Department of Agriculture (DA) reported that agricultural damage in Albay has reached PHP 6.64 million due to the ongoing unrest of Mayon Volcano and subsequent ashfall. The disaster has affected approximately 84 metric tons of high-value crops across 16 hectares of farmland. Additionally, the death of 33 livestock and poultry animals has been recorded, valued at PHP 121,000, although this figure is still subject to verification.

Ongoing Response and Assistance

Evacuation and monitoring of livestock are currently underway. The DA is also providing animal health support, distributing feeds, and offering other forms of assistance to affected farmers. Affected individuals can expect further aid, including seeds, loans, and crop insurance, to help mitigate the impact of the disaster.
