The national government has mobilized a substantial ₱760 million aid package for provinces devastated by the recent onslaught of Typhoon Tino, providing crucial financial support to affected communities across multiple regions.
Immediate Relief for Affected Families
According to Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian, the financial assistance is being distributed directly to local government units in the hardest-hit areas. Each affected family will receive ₱10,000 through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, offering immediate relief for those displaced or suffering property damage.
Comprehensive Regional Support
The aid distribution spans multiple regions, with significant allocations directed toward:
- Ilocos Region - Receiving substantial support for widespread damage
- Cagayan Valley - Addressing both agricultural and infrastructure losses
- Central Luzon - Supporting recovery efforts in multiple provinces
- CALABARZON - Assisting communities with housing and livelihood restoration
- MIMAROPA - Providing aid to island communities impacted by the typhoon
- Bicol Region - Supporting ongoing rehabilitation efforts
Agricultural Sector Receives Critical Support
Beyond individual family assistance, the aid package includes dedicated funding for agricultural recovery. Farming communities that suffered crop damage and livestock losses will receive specialized support to help restore their livelihoods and ensure food security in the affected regions.
Streamlined Distribution Process
Secretary Gatchalian emphasized that the distribution mechanism has been optimized for efficiency. "We've established a streamlined process to ensure the funds reach the intended beneficiaries without unnecessary delays", he stated during the announcement. Local government units are coordinating with national agencies to facilitate the prompt release of funds to qualified recipients.
The ₱760 million allocation represents one of the most significant disaster response initiatives in recent months, demonstrating the government's commitment to supporting communities through the challenging recovery period following natural calamities.
