Barangay Marigondon in Lapu-Lapu City emerged as the winner of the first prize in the "Mugna: Street Design Competition" held during the 48th Asean Summit 2026.
Competition Background
The barangay-based initiative was carried out through the efforts of the Office of the First Lady Lisa Araneta-Marcos and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), in collaboration with the City Government of Lapu-Lapu City led by Mayor Cynthia "Cindi" Chan.
Participating Barangays
Eleven participating barangays transformed their streets into "dynamic cultural showcases," featuring immersive installations and artistic designs crafted from sustainable, indigenous, and locally sourced materials. The Mugna competition was held in line with the 48th Asean Summit 2026, warmly welcoming delegates composed of ministers and showcasing the hospitality of Mactan and Lapu-Lapu City.
Other Winners
Aside from Barangay Marigondon, other winners included Barangay Ibo (2nd Place), Barangay Pajo (3rd Place), Barangay Punta Engaño (4th Place), and Barangay Buaya (5th Place).
