Iran's IRGC Warns Against Attacks Before Supreme Leader's Funeral

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has issued a stark warning against any attempted attack on the country ahead of the funeral of the late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The IRGC specifically cautioned the United States and Israel to avoid any “miscalculation” or attack while the nation is in mourning.

IRGC Threatens Devastating Response

In a statement, the IRGC declared that any aggression would be met with a more “determined and devastating response” than ever before. The entire Iranian armed forces have been placed on the highest level of combat readiness under the command of the new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in airstrikes by the US and Israel on February 28, 2026, at the start of the war. The official public tribute to the late Supreme Leader will begin Saturday, July 4, and last until July 9, 2026.

Massive Funeral Expected

The Iranian government expects between 10 and 20 million people and foreign delegations to participate in the ceremonies. As a result, security has been tightened and some airspace has been closed. The IRGC's warning comes as Iran prepares for one of the largest funeral processions in its history.
