Philippines to Import Oil and Gas from Canada After Marcos State Visit
Oil and Gas Import from Canada After Marcos Visit

The importation of oil and gas from Canada is one of the significant outcomes of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s state visit, according to Bombo International News Correspondent Hector Baytec reporting from Canada. He stated that this development could greatly benefit the Philippines, especially as the country seeks alternative sources of imported oil due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Canada as a Top Oil Producer

Baytec highlighted that Canada is considered a leading global producer of oil and gas. He noted that oil and gas from Canada can be imported without passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic but volatile waterway. This route offers a more secure supply chain for the Philippines.

Economic Growth and Skilled Workers

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney sees Asia as the next center of rapid economic growth, Baytec explained. In line with this, Canada is hiring many Filipinos in fields such as information technology, agriculture, nursing, and tourism, recognizing Filipinos as skilled workers.

Protests During the Visit

Baytec also mentioned that protests from some individuals were unavoidable during President Marcos's visit. Today, July 4, marks the last day of the four-day state visit to Canada.
