Pregnant Woman Rescued in Cebu Anti-Trafficking Raid

The National Bureau of Investigation in Central Visayas (NBI 7) reported that a three-month pregnant woman was among four women allegedly offered for prostitution during an anti-trafficking operation in Barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City. The operation, conducted at 8:49 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, led to the arrest of a suspected human trafficker.

Details of the Operation

Authorities said the operation was based on information provided by the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking 7. The suspect, identified as Jollie Jaenar Fundador, also known by the alias “Joel,” and a resident of M. Velez Street, Cebu City, was apprehended at the corner of Juana Osmeña and M.P. Yap Streets. He allegedly facilitated the prostitution of four women and accepted marked money from undercover operatives.

Victim's Condition

Investigators disclosed that one of the women allegedly being offered for prostitution was three months pregnant. The NBI 7 emphasized the gravity of the crime, noting that the victim's condition adds to the severity of the offense.

Legal Charges

Fundador will face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 9208, as amended by RA 10364, otherwise known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012. This offense is non-bailable, reflecting the serious nature of human trafficking under Philippine law.

The NBI 7 continues to investigate the case and urges the public to report any suspected trafficking activities to authorities.
