Super Typhoon Bavi continues to maintain its strength while located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to the latest weather bulletin. The storm, which will be locally named "Inday" upon entering the country, was spotted 2,845 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
Wind Speeds and Movement
The typhoon carries maximum sustained winds of 205 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts reaching up to 250 kilometers per hour. It is moving westward at a slow pace of 10 kilometers per hour. These conditions indicate that Bavi remains a powerful tropical cyclone capable of significant impacts when it eventually enters PAR.
Expected Influence on Weather
Bavi is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon (habagat) next week, bringing increased rainfall over parts of the country. Meanwhile, the easterlies continue to affect the eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas, causing hot and humid weather with possible isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
Residents in affected areas are advised to stay updated on weather advisories and prepare for potential monsoon rains and gusty winds as the typhoon approaches.
