The city government of San Fernando, Pampanga has declared its complete readiness for the upcoming Maleldo 2026 celebrations, marking the annual Holy Week observances with enhanced safety measures and organizational coordination. During a press conference held by the Maleldo 2026 Executive Committee Secretariat through the City Tourism Office, officials confirmed that final preparations are now in full swing, ensuring a secure, orderly, and spiritually meaningful experience for all participants and visitors.

Comprehensive Safety and Operational Deployment

City authorities have mobilized a substantial force to manage the various activities scheduled throughout Holy Week. More than 500 personnel from multiple city departments and force multiplier groups will be strategically deployed on Good Friday, April 3, to oversee critical areas including medical response, public safety protocols, traffic management, and overall security operations. This extensive deployment aims to address potential emergencies and maintain smooth proceedings during the traditionally crowded events.

Executive Committee Leadership and Final Preparations

The Maleldo 2026 Executive Committee, led by Chairperson Ricardo “Jun” Pineda, Jr. with Co-Chairpersons Councilor Elmer Bengco and Christian Tantamco, has been instrumental in coordinating the preparations. The committee reported that all arrangements have been finalized following a series of intensive coordination meetings and thorough site inspections. A final site inspection is scheduled for April 1, followed by an operational briefing for all deployed personnel on April 2, ensuring everyone is fully briefed on their roles and responsibilities.

Schedule of Traditional Rites and Ceremonies

The major crucifixion rites, which are central to Maleldo observances, will be conducted in several barangays with specific timings:

  • San Juan at 7 AM
  • Sta. Lucia at 10 AM
  • San Pedro Cutud at 11 AM

Additionally, smaller-scale rites will take place in Barangay Del Pilar. The traditional “Tira Bakal” ceremonies, another significant aspect of local Holy Week practices, will be held in:

  • Calulut at 8:30 AM
  • Juliana at 9 AM
  • Sta. Teresita at 10 AM
  • San Jose at 11 AM

Public Assistance and Safety Measures

To further enhance public safety and convenience, Public Safety Assistance Desks will be operational from March 30 to April 3 at key locations throughout the city:

  • Dolores Intersection Flyover
  • Sindalan (MacArthur Highway, in front of ICTHS)
  • Giant Lantern and Tourist Information Center

Personnel from the Tourism Office, along with departments handling health, safety, and peace and order, will be stationed at these points to promptly respond to inquiries and any emergencies that may arise, providing immediate assistance to attendees.
