Police arrested an armed man early Friday, June 26, 2026, following a tip from a concerned citizen in Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City.
Suspect Identified; Weapon Recovered
The suspect was identified as Edwin Degamo Juab, alias Binoy, 45, a resident of the same area. Responding officers from the Carbon Police Station recovered a loaded .357 caliber revolver with one live round from his waist.
The arrest occurred around 12:30 a.m. after police received a call about a man carrying a firearm in the vicinity.
Background Check Reveals Drug Warrant
During investigation, police discovered that Juab had a pending warrant of arrest for an illegal drugs case. The warrant was issued by Judge Mory Nueva, Presiding Judge of Regional Trial Court Branch 13 in Cebu City, dated July 16, 2024.
Police Captain Venstine Bontilao, chief of the Carbon Police Station, stated that the suspect carried the weapon out of fear of being arrested based on the warrant.
Suspect Had Been Hiding in Bohol
Juab had been hiding in Bohol for two years and had only returned to Cebu City six months prior, believing he would not be caught. He is now detained at the Carbon Police Station custodial facility.
