Army Commander Visits Cafgu Patrol Base in Sulu

In a move to bolster frontline security forces, the commander of the 1103rd Infantry Brigade personally visited a key militia outpost in Sulu at the start of the new year.

Commander's Visit Focuses on Troop Welfare and Base Readiness

Brigadier General Emmanuel Cabasan led the inspection of the Civilian Armed Auxiliary (CAA) patrol base located in the municipality of Indanan on Friday, January 2, 2026. The visit was a core part of the brigade's ongoing strategy to ensure that all its force multipliers are fully prepared and supported.

During his time at the base, General Cabasan conducted a thorough assessment. He inspected the facilities and evaluated the operational readiness of the patrol base. A key focus was verifying that all personnel had the proper equipment to effectively carry out their duties in support of local peace and security operations.

Personal Engagement with Citizen Armed Force (Cafgu) Members

Beyond the logistical inspection, the brigade commander took significant time to personally converse with members of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu). He engaged with them directly to gauge their morale and discuss their welfare, emphasizing their crucial role in the community.

Cabasan highlighted the vital function of Cafgu members as force multipliers, essential for maintaining peace, security, and stability in Sulu. This direct dialogue underscores the military leadership's commitment to its grassroots security partners.

Strengthening Coordination for Community Security

The activity highlighted the 1103Bde's dedication to enhancing coordination with its militia units. The goal is to continuously improve their capabilities and ensure that personnel on the front lines remain motivated, prepared, and fully backed in their mission.

Key officials from the 1103rd Infantry Brigade accompanied General Cabasan during this visit. The brigade is one of the two primary operating units under the Sulu-based 11th Infantry Division, with the 1102nd Infantry Brigade being the other.

This initiative reaffirms the Philippine Army's proactive approach in the province, ensuring that all components of its security apparatus are synchronized and resilient as they face the challenges of the new year.
