Army, Reservists Unite in South Cotabato Fellowship

In a significant move to bolster national defense capabilities, the Philippine Army's 38th Infantry Battalion (38IB) recently convened a fellowship event with reservist forces in South Cotabato. The activity, held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in the municipality of Tupi, underscored the military's commitment to unity, readiness, and shared responsibility in safeguarding the nation.

Strengthening the "One Army, One Force" Bond

According to Lieutenant Colonel Erwin Felongco, commander of the 38IB, the gathering was designed to highlight the enduring partnership between the regular force and the reservists. The core concept of "One Army, One Force" was a central theme throughout the day's proceedings. The program featured several key segments aimed at fostering a cohesive and informed force.

These included a ceremonial awarding of the Philippine Army Patriot (PhilArPat) recognition, an information briefing, and a compelling audio-visual presentation focused on the West Philippine Sea. This segment aimed to heighten awareness of current national security concerns among the participants.

Hands-On Engagement and Camaraderie

Beyond formal briefings, the reservists participated in practical, hands-on activities that reinforced operational skills and esprit de corps. The event featured a Static and Kinetic Display of military equipment, allowing for close inspection and familiarization.

A central component was a live firing activity, providing reservists with vital practical experience. The fellowship culminated in a traditional boodle fight, a meal shared directly on banana leaves, symbolizing the values of camaraderie, equality, and a shared commitment to service.

Leadership Emphasizes Reservists' Vital Role

The fellowship's guest of honor was Colonel Ruben Aquino, the assistant division commander for reservist affairs of the 6th Infantry Division. In his message to the attendees, Colonel Aquino stressed the indispensable role of reservists as force multipliers and key partners for the Army.

He emphasized that their integration and readiness are crucial for sustaining the Army's operational capabilities and deepening its engagement with local communities. This leadership endorsement reinforced the strategic importance of the reservist program.

Through this comprehensive fellowship, the 38th Infantry Battalion demonstrated its proactive approach to building a strong, united, and mission-ready Total Force. The event served as a clear testament to the Army's preparedness to serve the Filipino people anytime and anywhere, leveraging the combined strength of its regular and reserve components.
