Drug Suspect Apprehended in Lanao del Norte Buy-Bust Operation
Police authorities in Lanao del Norte successfully arrested a drug suspect during a targeted law enforcement operation conducted in the early hours of Saturday, March 7, 2026. The operation, which took place around 12:20 a.m., resulted in the seizure of illegal substances and marked a significant step in the ongoing campaign against the illicit drug trade in the region.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
Colonel Leo Sua, the Lanao del Norte police director, identified the suspect as a 30-year-old resident of Poblacion village in Magsaysay town. According to Sua, the arrest occurred near the suspect's residence following a meticulously planned buy-bust operation. A police officer, acting as a poseur-buyer, purchased one sachet of suspected shabu for P500, leading to the immediate apprehension of the individual.
During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated a total of two grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P13,600. Additionally, drug paraphernalia and the P500 marked money used in the transaction were seized as evidence. The suspect is currently in police custody, awaiting the formal filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
