PAL Hong Kong Flight Delayed Six Hours After Security Concern
PAL Flight to Hong Kong Delayed Six Hours Over Security

A Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight bound for Hong Kong was delayed for almost six hours on Thursday due to a security concern, the airline confirmed.

Flight PR300, scheduled to depart Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 at 7:45 a.m., was held so that the aircraft and baggage could undergo a thorough inspection in coordination with relevant authorities. The flight eventually departed at 1:51 p.m., according to PAL Vice President for Communications Anne Tiongco.

Security Concern Not Specified

Although the nature of the security concern was not disclosed, Tiongco clarified to the Philippine News Agency that it was neither a bomb joke nor a bomb threat. She emphasized that the delay was a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety.

In a statement, PAL reiterated that the safety and security of its passengers remain its top priority. The airline assisted affected passengers and expressed appreciation for their cooperation during the security procedure.

Impact on Passengers

The nearly six-hour delay disrupted travel plans for passengers on the Hong Kong-bound flight. PAL did not specify how many passengers were affected, but said all were provided assistance while waiting for the inspection to be completed.

This incident highlights the strict security protocols observed at NAIA, one of the country's busiest airports. The thorough inspection, which included both the aircraft and all luggage, was conducted to eliminate any potential risk before departure.
