PRO-7 Boosts Cebu City Police with 11 New Patrol Cars, Gear for ASEAN Summit
PNP Turns Over 11 Patrol Cars, Equipment to Cebu City Police

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 has significantly bolstered the operational capacity of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) with a major turnover of new vehicles and equipment. The ceremony, held on Friday, January 16, 2026, was led by PRO 7 Director Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan and Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival.

Strategic Allocation of Resources

During the event, a total of 11 brand-new Toyota Hilux 4x4 unit personnel carriers, four Honda Dirt Bike 150CC motorcycles, and various communication equipment were formally handed over to the local police force. General Maranan emphasized that this allocation was a deliberate strategic decision. He explained that when he requested vehicles from Camp Crame, he ensured Cebu City received the lion's share of the resources, valued at approximately P30 million.

"I see to it that majority of the resources will be put here in Cebu City because this is where it is needed most," Maranan stated. He highlighted the city's central role in Region 7, calling it the region's "show window." The director stressed the need for a strong police force to support the Local Government Unit (LGU) in maintaining peace and order, which is crucial for sustaining economic and tourism growth under Mayor Archival's leadership.

Immediate Deployment and Upcoming Security Demands

The newly acquired patrol vehicles will be immediately deployed, with one unit assigned to each of the city's Police Station 1 through Police Station 11. This distribution is designed to ensure faster response times to alarms and emergencies across the metro.

General Maranan also issued a stern reminder to the personnel who will use the assets. He urged them to take care of the equipment and use it strictly for official duties, noting that the funds used were sourced from public taxes. "Let me remind you, these came from the taxes of our people so ingatan natin gamitin natin ng maayos (let's take care of them and use them properly)," he added.

The timing of the turnover is critical, as the new assets are expected to play a vital role in securing two major upcoming events: the Sinulog 2026 festival and the high-profile ASEAN Summit.

Local Government Pledges Further Support

Mayor Nestor Archival expressed his gratitude to the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the provision, assuring continued support from the city government. This support includes assistance such as gasoline allowances for the police force. The mayor acknowledged the significant boost the vehicles would provide in maintaining peace and order during the impending major events.

Furthermore, Mayor Archival addressed a gap in the allocation. While Cebu City has 13 police stations, only 11 vehicles were provided. To cover the deficit, the mayor pledged that the city government will procure and provide two additional vehicles for the two stations located in mountainous areas: the Malubog police station and the Adlaon police station.

This infusion of resources marks a substantial upgrade for the CCPO, enhancing its mobility and communication capabilities as it prepares for heightened security requirements in the coming days.
