In a significant law enforcement effort, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 has successfully conducted a rigorous operation across Central Visayas, resulting in the seizure of illegal drugs valued at P5.2 million and 35 unlicensed firearms. The operation, which took place from February 8 to 14, 2026, was part of a broader crackdown on criminal activities in the region.

Intelligence-Driven Operations Yield Major Results

Under the directive of PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., the operation was led by Regional Director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan. It focused on intelligence-driven strategies that led to the confiscation of 769.27 grams of shabu and marijuana, with an estimated street value of P5,231,036. This highlights the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the area.

Arrests and Legal Actions

A total of 196 suspects were apprehended during the operation, including six high-value individuals who are considered key players in illegal activities. Additionally, 35 loose firearms were seized, and 25 individuals were charged with violations of RA 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. This underscores the police's commitment to enforcing gun control laws and reducing armed violence.

Wanted Persons and Illegal Gambling Crackdown

The operation also led to the capture of 140 wanted persons, among them 12 Most Wanted Persons at regional, provincial, and municipal levels. This demonstrates the effectiveness of coordinated efforts in tracking down fugitives. In a separate but related action, 73 individuals were arrested for illegal gambling activities, with over P11,000 in gambling money confiscated from games like hantak and tigbakay.

These results reflect the PRO-7's dedication to maintaining public safety and order in Central Visayas through proactive and targeted police work.
