QCPD: Patrol Driver Liable for Fatal Crash

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has decided to leave the accountability for a fatal patrol car crash to its driver. The incident, which occurred when a mobile patrol vehicle hit a wall, resulted in the deaths of five persons under police custody and injuries to four police officers.

QCPD Files Case Against Driver

According to QCPD Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) chief Lt. Col. Josef Geoffrey Lim, they have already filed a case against the driver as part of standard procedure. The driver will now have to answer the allegations in court. The police are also awaiting a technical report from the vehicle manufacturer to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Police Followed Proper Procedures

Lim clarified that the police followed proper procedures, including handcuffing the detainees. Injured officers have received medical attention, and the families of the deceased victims have been notified. The official also stated that the driver will be responsible for responding to the show cause order from the Land Transportation Office regarding the incident.
