Bacolod City Boosts Police with P3.1M Gear, First Electric Patrol Vehicles
Bacolod City Gives P3.1M Equipment to Police

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has received a significant boost in its operational and administrative capabilities following a major logistical donation from the local government. Mayor Greg Gasataya led the turnover of equipment valued at P3.1 million to BCPO Director, Colonel Joeresty Coronica, on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Major Logistical Support for Law Enforcement

During the ceremony held at the BCPO headquarters, city officials handed over a suite of essential tools designed to modernize police work. The substantial package includes 36 computers for personnel, 34 printers, and a substantial 40,800 rounds of 9mm ammunition. Mayor Gasataya emphasized that this tangible support is a core part of the city's peace and order agenda, moving beyond mere verbal assurances.

The mayor highlighted the city's progressive support for its uniformed personnel, noting that their monthly allowance has increased from about P500 during his time as a councilor to P2,000 today. "This is something that can really help our personnel," Gasataya stated, connecting financial aid directly to operational effectiveness.

A Historic First: Electric Patrol Vehicles for Negros

In a landmark announcement for the region, Mayor Gasataya revealed plans to provide the BCPO with 10 fully electric patrol vehicles. This initiative marks the first deployment of such eco-friendly law enforcement transport in the entire Negros region. The mayor confirmed that these zero-emission vehicles will be assigned to 10 different police stations across Bacolod City.

"This is our way of showing our support and appreciation for the accomplishments of the BCPO," Gasataya said. He praised the police force for risking their lives day and night to ensure community safety, including efforts to reduce the entry of illegal drugs into the city.

A Shared Commitment to Peace and Order

Mayor Gasataya underscored that maintaining public safety is a shared responsibility between national and local government units. "We know that this cannot be handled by the national government alone. The local government also has a role, and we are always here to support all of you," he stressed. This latest donation continues a pattern of investment, following the turnover of two armored vans to the BCPO Swat team in 2025.

Colonel Coronica expressed profound gratitude for the city government's unwavering partnership. He assured that the new equipment would significantly enhance both police operations and administrative efficiency. "We are thankful because this equipment will surely enhance the administrative and operational capabilities of the police," Coronica stated. He pledged that all support from the city would be reciprocated with good and quality service to the people of Bacolod.

The event was also attended by key BCPO officials including Deputy City Director for Administration Police Lieutenant Colonel Mary Rose Salve Pico, Deputy City Director for Operations Police Lieutenant Colonel Lester Leada, and Chief of the City Operations Management Unit Police Lieutenant Colonel Joery Puerto, alongside uniformed and non-uniformed personnel.
