Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival is currently managing a demanding schedule of high-level engagements, all while keeping the safety of his constituents as his top priority amidst a potential weather threat.
National Duties in Manila
On the morning of Monday, November 24, 2025, Mayor Archival was in Manila to fulfill his role as the chairman of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) in Central Visayas. He attended the National Peace and Order Council (NPOC) meeting, where critical national issues were discussed.
The agenda for this important gathering included updates on disaster preparedness and peace and order matters, alongside other national concerns that have a direct impact on local communities across the Philippines.
International Engagement in Japan
Following his commitments in the capital, Mayor Archival was scheduled to fly to Yokohama, Japan, on Monday night. His mission there is to participate as a speaker at the Smart Cities Conference.
The mayor expressed his intention to use this international platform to gather innovative ideas and successful strategies. He aims to find solutions that can help transform Cebu City into a more sustainable, smart, and inclusive metropolis for all its residents.
Vigilance Amidst Local Concerns
Despite his travels, Mayor Archival has not taken his focus away from Cebu. He has publicly assured residents that he is closely monitoring the development of an incoming weather disturbance expected to affect Cebu.
He stated that he is in constant communication and is awaiting the latest forecasts and official recommendations from the Cebu City Disaster Council. “My priority will always be the safety and welfare of every Cebuano,” Archival emphasized.
He further solidified his commitment by adding that in times of possible danger, he will choose to be on the ground with the people he serves, ensuring that local concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
