The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has announced comprehensive security preparations for a major anti-corruption rally scheduled this Sunday, November 30, 2025, in Cebu City.
Massive Security Deployment Planned
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Jose Losbaños, the information officer of CCPO, authorities have already mobilized their Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) team to monitor the protest activities. While Losbaños didn't specify exact numbers, he confirmed that hundreds of police personnel will be deployed to maintain order during the demonstration.
The security operation will involve multiple specialized units, including the Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit and uniformed personnel serving as perimeter security. Their primary objective is to ensure the event proceeds smoothly without any disturbances or violence.
Multi-Agency Coordination and Safety Measures
The police deployment will be supplemented by personnel from other government agencies, including the Cebu City Transportation Office, Traffic Enforcement Unit, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office. This coordinated approach aims to address all potential safety concerns during the rally.
CCPO has assured the public that they will implement maximum tolerance policies and respect the rights of all Cebuanos expressing their grievances to the government. However, they've also appealed to rally participants to follow government regulations and avoid blocking roads to prevent traffic congestion.
Nationwide Security Alert Status
The security preparations come as the Philippine National Police (PNP) raised its alert status from normal to heightened alert nationwide two days before the scheduled anti-corruption rally. This precautionary measure was implemented despite police assessments indicating no specific security threats to the upcoming event.
Police authorities continue to monitor the situation and maintain that their primary goal is to facilitate peaceful expression while ensuring public safety throughout the demonstration period.
