Swift Police Action Leads to Arrests in Motorcycle Theft
In a display of rapid response, police operatives in Lamitan City, Basilan, successfully arrested two individuals connected to a motorcycle theft within hours of the crime being reported last Saturday, November 8.
Details of the Arrests and Suspects
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Elmer Solon, the chief of the Lamitan City police, the two suspects were apprehended in separate law enforcement operations on the same day. The suspects were identified as alias Kidlat, 19, and alias Anami, 27. Both are residents of Maluso town in Basilan.
The police chief detailed that the first arrest, of suspect Kidlat, took place at around 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, in Balagtasan village, Lamitan City. His alleged accomplice, Anami, was subsequently captured later that same day at approximately 5 p.m. in Fuente village, Maluso.
Recovery of Stolen Property and Next Steps
The arrest operation was launched after Dodong Pakaral, 46, an Indigenous People's representative from Limo-ok village, Lamitan City, reported that his motorcycle was stolen at around 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Through coordinated follow-up operations with other police units, authorities were not only able to capture the suspects but also locate the stolen motorcycle. The vehicle was successfully recovered in Cabunbata village, Isabela City, the capital of Basilan province, also on Saturday.
The two arrested suspects are currently in police custody as authorities prepare to file the appropriate criminal charges against them.
