Liloan Mayor Denies Blocking Cebu Aid Trucks After Typhoon
Liloan Mayor Denies Blocking Cebu Province Relief Trucks

Liloan Mayor Aljew Jordan Frasco has strongly denied allegations that his office blocked relief delivery trucks from the Cebu Provincial Capitol, creating controversy in the typhoon-affected municipality.

Social Media Sparks Relief Delivery Controversy

The controversy began with a Facebook post on Monday, November 10, 2025, from user Tabs Jv Ve. The post included video footage showing personnel from the Provincial Capitol being unable to enter Villa Azalea Subdivision with their relief goods, reportedly because they lacked a permit from the municipal government.

According to reports, up to 1,500 residents in the subdivision have been struggling with cleanup and recovery efforts for nearly a week due to insufficient assistance. The video uploader made an emotional plea: "Please, don't involve politics in our current situation. We just need to be cleaned up because it's been one week since the incident, and we haven't received help from you. The vehicles are starting to smell, and it's very muddy. We can't move forward."

Mayor's Firm Denial and Clarification

In his official statement posted on Facebook on Monday evening, November 10, Mayor Frasco categorically denied the allegations. "This is not true. As mayor, I did not order anyone to block or require a permit from the Province of Cebu or any group to enter typhoon-affected areas," Frasco clarified.

The mayor expressed doubt about the video's authenticity, emphasizing that the municipality has been cooperating with the Provincial Capitol. He noted that just on November 9-10, Liloan had received medical supplies from the province. "I did not give any order, and there was no instruction from me or the Liloan LGU to prevent Province of Cebu trucks from entering. Everyone is welcome, as we have even been calling on the public that we need help," Frasco stated.

Ongoing Recovery Efforts and Provincial Support

Meanwhile, the Cebu Provincial Capitol confirmed that up to 20 heavy equipment units are being used in Liloan for clearing operations. The equipment support from the province indicates ongoing collaboration between the municipal and provincial governments despite the allegations.

Residents continue to appeal for immediate assistance, with one social media user pleading: "Please LGU Liloan, whatever help comes from outside, let's accept it. Let's not politicize this. If you're from opposing parties, save it for the election - not now because we're already smelling bad here. We're just begging, we're poor, please clean us up so we can breathe again."
