The Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) confirmed that the celebrations from the holiday season through New Year's Day were generally peaceful. Police Lieutenant Colonel Mercy Villaro, the MCPO spokesperson, attributed this positive outcome to a multi-faceted approach. She highlighted the full deployment of police forces in strategic locations, ongoing public safety campaigns, and the commendable cooperation from local residents.
Villaro stated that the police's comprehensive security plan was bolstered by the continuous implementation of Oplan Bandilyo. This information drive involved constant reminders to the public about safety protocols and local ordinances through announcements and efforts at all police stations.
