A total of 39 newly-hired non-uniformed personnel (NUP) of the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) officially took their oath of office during a formal ceremony held at Kanlaon Hall, Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr., located in Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City, on March 17, 2026. This significant event marks the induction of these personnel into the Philippine National Police (PNP), where they will serve in vital support roles across the Negros Island Region.
Ceremony Led by PRO 18 Director
The oath-taking ceremony was presided over by PRO 18 Director Brigadier General Arnold Thomas Ibay, who was joined by the Command Group, the Regional Staff, and the families of the successful applicants. In his address, Ibay emphasized that this ceremony symbolizes the beginning of a new journey for the 39 NUP as they join the PNP to serve the communities of Negros Island Region.
Commitment to Public Service
Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, the chief of the PRO 18 Public Information Office, highlighted that the ceremony underscores the personnel's dedication to public service. He explained that the new hires include three individuals from the Bacolod City Police Office, 10 from the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office, four from the Siquijor Provincial Police Office, and 22 from the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, ensuring a broad distribution of support across the region.

Brigadier General Ibay further elaborated on the importance of non-uniformed personnel within the PNP framework. He stated, "While not in uniform, their roles are vital to ensuring the PNP functions efficiently and effectively, supporting every operation and community program with dedication, professionalism, and integrity."
