Mandaue Police Intensify Crackdown with Dual Arrests and Major Drug Seizure
In a significant display of law enforcement vigor, police in Mandaue City have executed two high-impact operations this week, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the confiscation of substantial contraband. The coordinated efforts highlight a renewed push against illegal narcotics and fugitive apprehension, underscoring the authorities' commitment to bolstering public safety across the community.
Major Drug Bust Nets P170,000 Worth of Shabu and Unlicensed Firearm
On the evening of April 14, operatives from the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) conducted a meticulously planned buy-bust operation in Sitio Dunggoan, Barangay Basak, Mandaue City. The target was a 41-year-old man identified as Anthony, who was apprehended following the sting. During the arrest, police seized approximately 25 grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of P170,000, alongside an unlicensed caliber .22 revolver.
This operation was a collaborative endeavor involving the MCPO's City Intelligence Unit and City Drug Enforcement Unit, working in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). The suspect now faces serious legal repercussions, including charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Article II under Republic Act 9165, known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as well as Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police Colonel Cirilo Acosta Jr. emphasized the operation's significance, stating, "We will sustain our intensified operations against illegal drugs and unlicensed firearms to ensure the safety of our communities." His remarks reflect a broader, ongoing campaign aimed at eradicating these threats from the city's streets.
Capture of Bulacan's Seventh Most Wanted Fugitive
Just one day later, on April 15, Mandaue police achieved another critical breakthrough with the arrest of Albert Acedilla Zanoria, also known by the aliases "Tattoo" or "Berto." The 28-year-old suspect was taken into custody during a warrant operation along Jose L. Briones Street in Barangay Centro, Mandaue City. Notably, Zanoria was listed as Bulacan's seventh most wanted person at the provincial level, marking a significant victory for law enforcement.
The arrest was carried out by personnel from the City Intelligence Unit, led by Police Captain Noel L. Lungcob and under the supervision of Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Gifter T. Sucalit. Authorities served a warrant for violation of Section 3 of Republic Act No. 10883, under criminal case number 7659-M-2025. This warrant was issued on January 13, 2026, by Judge Roland Dennis Gregorio Molina of the Regional Trial Court Branch 8 in Malolos City, Bulacan, with a recommended bail set at P300,000.
Currently, Zanoria is being held at the custodial facility of Police Station 1 under the Mandaue City Police Office, pending further legal proceedings.
Strengthening Public Safety Through Determined Police Action
These twin operations serve as a powerful testament to the Mandaue police force's unwavering determination to combat criminality on multiple fronts. From disrupting illegal drug networks to apprehending high-profile fugitives, the initiatives are part of a comprehensive strategy to enhance security and foster a safer environment for all residents.
As authorities continue to ramp up their efforts, the community can expect sustained vigilance and proactive measures aimed at curbing illicit activities. The successful outcomes of these operations not only demonstrate effective police work but also reinforce the message that criminal elements will face swift and decisive action in Mandaue City.
