Missing Bohol Student Found After 10-Day Search, Police Cite Trauma

In Bohol Province, Philippines, a 21-year-old student from the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USP-F) has been found after a 10-day search by her parents. The student, identified as Jannah Balag Sarabosing, was located in Purok 4, Barangay Juagdan, Ubay, Bohol, following an intensive investigation led by local authorities.

Police Investigation and Family Concerns

Major Eric Gingoyon, chief of the Mabolo Police Station, stated that he cannot provide specific details about where Jannah went during her disappearance, as she is currently traumatized and needs rest. He emphasized that her mother, Divina, is refraining from pressing her for information to allow her recovery. "Sorry, I cannot give details as of now because the child is still in the trauma stage. The parents are not interrogating her," Gingoyon explained.

The case began on March 9, 2026, at 10:00 PM, when Divina reported her daughter missing to the police. According to the report, Jannah was last seen on CCTV footage at 12:59 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, behind the USPF campus. The video showed her leaving the school, after which she became unreachable via her cellular phone and messenger apps, causing alarm for her entire family.

Upon receiving the complaint, Major Gingoyon immediately directed investigators to probe the incident. Police collaborated closely with the school management, classmates, and friends to trace Jannah's possible whereabouts. They conducted a thorough backtracking of CCTV cameras both inside and outside the school to identify her route and the vehicle she used upon departure.

On March 13, 2026, the parents informed police that they had contacted Jannah and arranged to meet her at Pier 1 in Cebu City on Saturday, March 14, 2026, for her return to Bohol. Jannah is a sophomore pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Social Work at USPF.

Police Commendation and Public Advisory

Major Gingoyon praised the student's family for seeking police assistance promptly, which facilitated the search efforts. He urged the public to report similar incidents immediately to authorities to ensure swift attention and resolution. This case highlights the importance of community and law enforcement cooperation in addressing missing person reports.
