In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, combined forces from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Pampanga Provincial Office, PDEA Regional Office 3 Special Enforcement Team, and Mabalacat City police successfully apprehended seven individuals during a meticulously planned buy-bust operation. The operation took place on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in Barangay Dapdap, marking a decisive blow against drug-related activities in the region.
Details of the Arrest and Seized Evidence
Authorities have identified the suspects as Nick, 45; Obet, 22; Epoy, 23; Win, 20; MJ, 30; and Isah, 50. Additionally, Negra, 30, who is alleged to be the operator of a suspected drug den located at 5th Street, Madapdap Resettlement, was arrested during the operation. The enforcement teams confiscated critical evidence, including four sachets containing approximately nine grams of shabu, with an estimated street value of P61,200. Alongside the illicit substance, assorted drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money utilized by an undercover agent were also seized, strengthening the case against the accused.
Legal Charges and Detention
Negra is facing non-bailable charges under section 5, which pertains to the sale of dangerous drugs, and section 6, concerning the maintenance of a drug den, dive, or resort, as stipulated in Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The six other individuals are currently held in temporary detention at the PDEA regional jail facility and are similarly facing charges under the same stringent law, highlighting the serious legal consequences of involvement in drug trafficking.
Recognition for Anti-Drug Efforts
In a related development underscoring proactive community engagement, PDEA awarded the Balangay Seal of Excellence to the Municipality of Santa Rita, Pampanga on February 16, 2026. This prestigious accolade recognizes the municipality's outstanding implementation of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program, a key initiative in the national fight against illegal substances.
Significance of the Balangay Seal of Excellence
The Balangay Seal of Excellence represents the highest recognition conferred upon local government units and other implementers of the Barangay Drug Clearing Program, in accordance with Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 4, Series of 2021. Mark Anthony M. Viray, head of PDEA Pampanga, emphasized the award's importance, stating, "This prestigious award signifies the municipality’s unwavering commitment, effective governance, and sustained efforts in supporting the national anti-illegal drugs campaign." The recognition serves as a testament to Santa Rita's dedicated efforts in fostering a drug-free environment and sets a benchmark for other communities to emulate.
These simultaneous actions—the successful drug bust and the award ceremony—illustrate a dual approach in combating narcotics: rigorous law enforcement to dismantle operations and public recognition to encourage community-led initiatives. As PDEA continues its vigilant efforts, such operations and awards reinforce the ongoing battle against drug proliferation in the Philippines, aiming to safeguard public health and security.
