PDEA Agents Dismantle Drug Den in Cotabato City, Arrest Four Suspects
In a significant law enforcement operation, agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) dismantled a drug den and arrested four individuals in Cotabato City. The operation, which took place on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in Bagua 3 village, marks a critical step in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs in the region.
Details of the Arrests and Operation
The PDEA in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-Barmm) identified the arrested suspects through their aliases. They include Gail, a 50-year-old alleged drug den maintainer, along with Nhe, 32; Liit, 18; and Tha, 40. The arrests were made during a buy-bust operation that led to the dismantling of the drug den, showcasing the agency's proactive approach to curbing drug-related activities.
During the operation, a fifth suspect, identified as alias Mala, reportedly fired his firearm at the operating team. Although the team returned fire, Mala managed to elude arrest, adding a layer of urgency to the investigation. The PDEA-Barmm has emphasized that efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend this individual.
Confiscated Evidence and Charges
Authorities confiscated substantial evidence during the anti-drug operation. This included approximately 12 grams of a substance believed to be shabu, packed in nine heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets with an estimated street value of P81,600. Additionally, items such as one mobile phone, various drug paraphernalia, an identification card, and buy-bust money were seized.
The suspects are set to face charges for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. This legal framework underscores the serious consequences for those involved in drug trafficking and maintenance of drug dens, aiming to deter future offenses.
Collaborative Efforts and Regional Impact
The PDEA-Barmm launched this anti-drug operation with the support of local police and the Cotabato City Public Safety Office. This collaboration highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing drug-related crimes effectively. The operation not only disrupts local drug networks but also sends a strong message about the commitment to public safety in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
As the investigation continues, authorities remain vigilant in their efforts to combat illegal drugs and ensure community security. This incident serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges and the dedicated work of law enforcement agencies in the Philippines.
