PNP Vows Neutrality Amid Marcos Family Drug Allegations
PNP Stays Neutral in Marcos Family Drug Claims

The Philippine National Police has firmly committed to maintaining its professional and non-partisan position following explosive drug allegations made by Senator Imee Marcos against her own brother, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., and other family members.

PNP's Firm Stance on Political Neutrality

During a press conference held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño clearly stated that the police force would not involve itself in political matters. "Ang PNP ay hindi makikihalo sa anumang usaping pampulitika," Tuaño emphasized, translating to the PNP's refusal to engage in any political disputes.

The spokesperson further clarified that the PNP would allow individuals directly mentioned in Senator Marcos's speech to address the allegations themselves. "Hahayaan lamang ng PNP na gumawa ng aksyon 'yung mga taong nabanggit niya mismo sa kanyang speech," he added, indicating the police force's hands-off approach to the family matter.

Senator Marcos's Explosive Accusations

The controversy erupted during an Iglesia Ni Cristo rally at Quirino Grandstand on Monday, November 17, where Senator Imee Marcos made stunning claims about the First Family. She publicly alleged that her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos have been "drug addicts" for an extended period.

The senator expanded her accusations to include the President's children, specifically naming Ilocos Norte First District Representative Sandro Marcos. She claimed they not only used illegal drugs but also offered them to other relatives, including her own children.

Official Responses and Previous Denials

Malacañang Palace quickly responded to the allegations, describing Senator Marcos's statements as a "desperate move" that they would not dignify with extensive commentary. The presidential office reminded the public that similar accusations had been disproven during the 2022 presidential campaign when President Marcos voluntarily underwent a drug test at a reputable hospital.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines also weighed in on the matter, echoing the PNP's position by affirming its commitment to remain apolitical and loyal to the Constitution despite the serious accusations against the commander-in-chief.

The situation highlights the ongoing tensions within Philippine political circles and tests the institutional integrity of the country's security forces amid highly personal and politically charged allegations involving the nation's highest office.
