The Mabolo Police Station has officially concluded its investigation into the death of Father Decoroso "Cocoi" Olmilla, confirming no evidence of foul play was discovered in the case that has drawn public attention in Cebu City.
Investigation Findings Reveal No Signs of Struggle
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Joe Losbaños, information officer of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), the Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) team conducted a thorough investigation at the priest's condominium unit in Barangay Mabolo on November 14, 2025. The investigation determined there were no signs of struggle within the residence.
Investigators recovered a sharp knife that was identified as the instrument used in the incident. The evidence collected at the scene supported the conclusion that no external party was involved in the priest's death.
CCTV and Witness Accounts Corroborate Findings
Critical evidence came from the condominium's hallway CCTV footage, which showed no one else entering Father Olmilla's unit except a woman who was identified as his companion. This information was further confirmed by security guards who stated that no men had entered the unit besides the priest himself.
The autopsy results provided the definitive evidence, with police confirming the examination revealed no indications of foul play. "Based on the result of the autopsy negative, no foul play was found in the death of father," Losbaños stated unequivocally.
Case Officially Closed as Priest Laid to Rest
The investigation was formally closed on Tuesday, November 19, 2025, coinciding with Father Olmilla's final resting ceremony. The beloved priest, widely known as Father Cocoi to his community, was laid to rest as authorities concluded their inquiry into his tragic passing.
The Cebu City Police Office has officially notified the Cebu Archdiocese and the priest's family members about the investigation results, providing closure to all parties involved in the case that began when the priest was found deceased in his condo unit on November 12, 2025.
