In a significant law enforcement surge, the Police Regional Office Central Visayas (PRO 7) has reported the apprehension of nearly 100 wanted persons with pending warrants of arrest during intensified manhunt and enforcement operations conducted from March 8 to 14, 2026. This robust campaign underscores the region's commitment to holding criminals accountable and enhancing public safety.
Comprehensive Crime Crackdown Yields Multiple Arrests
Authorities successfully arrested 261 suspects involved in various criminal activities as part of a focused agenda by the Philippine National Police. This initiative specifically targets wanted persons, illegal drugs, loose firearms, and illegal gambling, aiming to disrupt criminal networks and reduce crime rates across Central Visayas.
Targeting High-Profile Fugitives
Of the 94 individuals listed as wanted across the region, 10 were included on the Most Wanted Persons list, facing serious criminal charges. This development highlights PRO 7's intensified efforts to ensure that those involved in grave offenses are brought to justice before the courts, reinforcing the rule of law in the community.
Simultaneous Operations Against Multiple Threats
In a parallel campaign against illegal drugs, police seized 270.33 grams of shabu, with a standard drug price estimated at approximately P1.8 million. This seizure represents a major blow to drug trafficking operations in the area, contributing to broader efforts to curb substance abuse and related crimes.
Confiscation of Unlicensed Firearms and Explosives
Efforts against loose firearms resulted in the confiscation of 38 unlicensed firearms, three explosives, and 90 rounds of ammunition of various calibers. Thirteen individuals were arrested in connection with these illegal weapons, demonstrating PRO 7's proactive stance in preventing violent incidents and enhancing public security.
Crackdown on Illegal Gambling Activities
PRO 7 also strengthened its crackdown on illegal gambling, conducting several operations that led to the arrest of gamblers and the seizure of P16,037 in gambling money. These actions aim to dismantle illicit gambling rings and promote lawful entertainment options within the region.
Leadership Commends Operational Success
Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, director of PRO 7, commended all operating units for their continued efforts to keep communities safe. "Through our intensified operations, we continue to arrest wanted persons and crack down on illegal drugs, loose firearms, and illegal gambling. These efforts show our strong commitment to keeping Central Visayas safe," Maranan stated.
Maranan assured the public that the police in Central Visayas will continue to enhance their operations and work closely with communities to prevent crime and maintain peace and order across the region. This collaborative approach is expected to foster greater trust between law enforcement and residents, paving the way for a more secure environment.
