MANILA – As the nation commemorates Labor Day, House Speaker Faustino Dy III on Friday extended his heartfelt tribute to Filipino workers both at home and abroad, recognizing their indispensable contributions to the Philippine economy and the nation's future.
Workers as Backbone of the Nation
In a statement, the leader of the House of Representatives emphasized that workers remain the foundation and driving force behind the country's progress. “Kayo ang nagsisilbing lakas at buhay ng ating bansa — you are the true lifeblood of our nation. Through your diligence, perseverance, and sacrifice, Philippine industries, services, and progress continue to function,” Dy said.
Addressing Persistent Challenges
Dy also acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by workers, including issues related to wages, benefits, job security, and working conditions. He assured that the House remains steadfast in its commitment to improving workers' welfare through legislation and policy measures.
“We will continue to advance measures and policies that strengthen the protection, opportunity, and dignity of workers,” the Isabela 6th District representative stated.
Government Commitment
The Speaker stressed that the government must match the dedication of workers with an equal level of commitment to their welfare. “Your hard work keeps our nation moving. It is only right that government works just as hard to protect your welfare and to support your aspirations,” he said.
Concluding his message, Dy offered a salute to all Filipino workers: “To all Filipino workers, we salute you.”
