A 34-year-old tricycle driver was critically injured after being shot by a long-standing adversary while waiting for passengers in Barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Victim and Suspect Identified
The victim, identified as Nestor Prajes Opsima, a resident of Sityo Santo Niño in the same barangay, sustained a gunshot wound to his right shoulder. The suspect, Rio Bendanillo, 47 years old and also from Barangay Poblacion, was swiftly apprehended following a hot pursuit operation conducted by the Toledo City Police Station.

According to the investigation, the victim was seated in his tricycle, awaiting passengers, when the suspect suddenly appeared at approximately 1:30 PM. Without any prior exchange of words, the suspect fired at the victim, striking him in the right shoulder.
After the shooting, the suspect attempted to flee the scene but was quickly captured by responding police officers. Authorities recovered a .45 caliber firearm and a magazine containing four live rounds of ammunition from the suspect's position.
