John Amores is set to make a comeback in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) two years after his professional license was revoked due to a shooting incident in Laguna. The 27-year-old guard signed a contract with the Titan Ultra Giant Risers, who will face the Terrafirma Dyip in the opening game of the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Background of the Shooting Case
In September 2024, Amores and his brother were implicated in a shooting incident in Lumban, Laguna. Days after the incident, the siblings surrendered to authorities and were released from jail after posting bail for homicide charges. At that time, Amores was still part of the NorthPort Batang Pier lineup. The Batang Pier franchise was later acquired by Titan Ultra last year.
Return to the PBA
On Tuesday, July 7, Amores shared a video on social media showing himself reapplying for a license with the Games and Amusements Board (GAB). This came months after he expressed his desire to return to the PBA following the resolution of his case. With the Giant Risers, Amores will reunite with his former NorthPort teammates Fran Yu, Joshua Munzon, and Cade Flores.
