Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson has signed a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the National Basketball Association (NBA) champion New York Knicks, according to his agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul. The deal is a veteran's minimum contract.
Clarkson's Performance and Career
Clarkson, 34, is a former Sixth Man of the Year awardee from his time with the Utah Jazz. In the past season with the Knicks, he averaged 8.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
He entered the NBA as a second-round pick by the Washington Wizards in 2014 but was immediately traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. From the Lakers, he moved to the Cleveland Cavaliers before joining the Knicks.
Impact on the Knicks
The signing bolsters the Knicks' backcourt depth with an experienced scorer and playmaker off the bench. Clarkson's veteran presence and championship experience will be valuable for New York's title defense.
