The Legacy Run 2026, scheduled for March 1, is set to be a landmark event for the homegrown premier running organizer Kinetix Sports. This year's race marks the company's 18th anniversary, celebrating nearly two decades of dedication to fostering Davao's vibrant running community. The event will take place on an out-and-back course starting from Azuela Cove, serving as both a competitive race and a heartfelt tribute to Kinetix Sports' lasting impact on the local road racing scene.
Building a Legacy Through Consistency and Runner-First Approach
The name "Legacy Run" encapsulates the reputation that Kinetix Sports has meticulously built over the years. Founded on principles of consistency, careful planning, and a runner-first philosophy, the company has earned the trust of athletes from Davao and surrounding areas. Many runners have grown alongside the company's events, forming a deep connection with the community.
Kenneth Sai, founder of Kinetix Sports, emphasized this legacy, stating: "Parang legacy namin siya for the running community here in Davao—in giving out quality races and making runners happy sa mga events na gina-organize namin (It's like our legacy for the running community here in Davao—providing quality races and making runners enjoy the events we organize)." For 18 years, Sai has led the planning and execution of races that have significantly shaped Davao's running culture.
Event Details and Competitive Highlights
This year's Legacy Run showcases the team's extensive experience, with organizers handling all aspects in-house, including:
- Route planning
- Safety coordination
- Runner support
- Overall event flow
Organizers anticipate around 1,800 participants across three categories: 5K, 10K, and 21K. The event welcomes a diverse range of runners, from beginners and seasoned athletes to elite competitors. The competition will be fierce, with cash prizes awarded to the top three finishers in each category. Additionally, age-group awards will be presented for the 21K race, resulting in a total of 72 standout athletes being recognized during the event.
Future Plans and Continued Growth
Beyond the anniversary race, Kinetix Sports has a packed schedule for the year, with approximately 25 races lined up. Sai hinted at potential expansions, noting: "May mga races din kami na upcoming, iba-iba. So, we have around 25 races for this year na naka-line up. And then, for next year, depende kung, decide namin, baka we will have a bigger Legacy Run next year (We also have various upcoming races, about 25 lined up for this year. As for next year, it depends on our decision, but we might hold a bigger Legacy Run)."
As Kinetix Sports celebrates its 18th anniversary, the Legacy Run represents more than just a retrospective look at years of races.
