Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala will face her American friend Iva Jovic in her debut at the French Open, scheduled from May 24 to June 7, 2026, in Paris, France.
First Meeting on WTA Tour
Like Eala, Jovic is a rising young player on the global stage. This will be the first time their paths cross on the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour.
Challenging Opponent
Eala is expected to face a tough challenge against Jovic, who is currently world No. 17 and seeded 17th in this tournament, also known as Roland Garros. Jovic, only 18 years old, reached a career-high ranking of world No. 16 in March this year.
Among Jovic's career highlights are winning her first WTA singles title at the 2025 Guadalajara Open and finishing as runner-up in Hobart earlier this year. She also won the Ilkley WTA 125 last year.
Eala's Standing
On her part, the 20-year-old Eala is currently ranked world No. 38. She reached a career-high of world No. 29 not too long ago.
Last week, Jovic posted a selfie with Eala on her Instagram account, where Eala commented, "Gorgeous girl on my feed!!" The two were together in the doubles event at Indian Wells earlier this year.
The exact date of their match at the French Open has yet to be finalized.
