Young tennis star Yuan Andrei Torrente continued his dominant run on Friday, securing his spot in the quarterfinals of the Zopiya Alexa Morales National Juniors Tennis Championships. The tournament is being held at the Zentro clay courts in Apalit, Pampanga.
Dominant Display in U12 and U14 Categories
As the top seed in the Boys' U12 division, Torrente delivered a flawless performance, defeating Carl Javier with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory. This win sets up a quarterfinal clash against the winner of the match between eighth seed Lucca Bavin Ong and unseeded Francis Gabriel Abacan.
Torrente, who recently triumphed at the MAC's Crankit event in December 2025 by winning the U12 title and finishing as runner-up in U14, also excelled in the older age group. Seeded fourth in the U14 category, he replicated his perfect scoreline, blanking Xian Javier 6-0, 6-0 to advance.
Other Contenders March Forward
Torrente was not alone in his commanding progress. In the U12 draw, second seed Liam James Harrow also posted a double-bagel win, beating Mattei Jenrix Alcantara 6-0, 6-0. Harrow will next face fifth seed Azl Kirk Gonzaga, who overcame a tough challenge from Mateo Javier Gutierrez, 6-3, 3-6, 10-3.
Fourth seed Noel Andre Zachary Zoleta joined them in the Final 8 after defeating Grayson Forrest Uy, 6-3, 6-1. Zoleta's next opponent is sixth seed Raven De Guzman, a decisive 6-0, 6-0 winner over Kian Riley Pineda.
The U14 quarterfinal lineup is packed with top seeds. Joining Torrente are: No. 1 Tyronne Grey Caro, No. 2 Jksky Berille, No. 3 Jairus Peralta, No. 7 Raven Matthew De Guzman, and No. 8 Psalm Avriel Panaligan. All secured their places with straight-set victories on Friday.
U18 Action Heats Up
In the Boys' U18 category, top seed Troan John Vytiaco led the charge into the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Rocky John Castillo. Vytiaco is set to meet fifth seed Gerard Albert Manigque, who defeated Lucas Alexander Gordon 6-1, 6-2.
Other notable winners in the U18 draw included second seed Felizardo Lota III, fourth seed Anthony James Cosca, and sixth seed Ole Martin Paulsen, all advancing with convincing performances.
