Major Blow to Cyber Trafficking Network in Pampanga
Law enforcement authorities in Central Luzon have successfully dismantled what they describe as a sophisticated cryptocurrency trafficking operation following a coordinated raid in Angeles City, Pampanga. The joint operation conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and Police Regional Office III (PRO-3) uncovered a facility allegedly used for illegal digital currency farming and online exploitation.
Rescue Operation and Arrests
During the recent operation, police rescued several workers from the establishment located in Barangay Santa Teresita. Among those freed were two minors who had reportedly been forced into illegal digital work. Brigadier General Rogelio I. Peñones Jr., PRO-3 director, confirmed that three suspects were apprehended during the raid.
The arrested individuals include a Korean national known only as "Lim," who allegedly served as the manager and operator of the facility. Two Filipino women identified as "Gie," who worked as a secretary, and "Jane," who held a managerial position, were also taken into custody. Authorities continue to search for another Korean national named "Park," who remains at large.
Illegal Operation Uncovered
Investigators revealed that the facility operated under the guise of legitimate employment, with victims reportedly lured by fake call center job offers. Once recruited, workers were allegedly forced to participate in illegal cryptocurrency activities and other digital exploitation schemes.
The raid was conducted under Search Warrant No. 25-426 issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 58. The operation targeted violations of the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act (R.A. 9208) in connection with the Cybercrime Prevention Act (R.A. 10175).
Law enforcement seized substantial evidence from the scene, including:
- 132 computer units
- 44 mobile phones
- Various company documents and permits
- Digital devices including modems and routers

Brigadier General Peñones emphasized that dismantling cyber-enabled trafficking networks remains a top priority for Philippine law enforcement. The successful operation demonstrates the authorities' commitment to combating modern forms of human trafficking that exploit digital technologies.
