The Provincial Government of Davao del Norte has issued a critical public warning concerning a sophisticated scam operation that is fraudulently using the name and identity of Governor Edwin Jubahib.
Scam Tactics and Fake Promises
According to an official advisory released on Monday, November 24, 2025, deceptive text messages and Facebook posts are being widely circulated. These fraudulent communications falsely claim to be from Governor Jubahib, informing recipients that they have been selected to receive cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The scam message typically begins with a congratulatory note, stating, "Congratulations ikaw ay maswerte napili namin para makatangap ng DSWD and cash assistance." The fraudster then proceeds to ask for sensitive personal details, including the recipient's full name, age, complete home address, and mobile number, allegedly to facilitate a follow-up phone call for the release of the non-existent aid.
Official Response and Public Advisory
The local government unit was quick to act, clarifying through its official One DavNor Network Facebook page that these messages are a complete fabrication. They have strongly advised the public to disregard such claims and to report any suspicious accounts impersonating the governor immediately.
"Mamahimong i-report dayon kining mga fake account aron dili na kini makapangilad pa," the provincial government urged in its statement, emphasizing the need for collective vigilance to prevent further deception.
Authorities have directed residents to rely solely on the verified and official Facebook page of Governor Edwin Jubahib for all legitimate updates and announcements from his office.
Community Reactions and Heightened Vigilance
The public advisory has resonated with netizens, who have echoed the call for caution. A commenter named Carl Singson stressed the importance of remaining alert at all times, given the increasing number of individuals attempting to deceive others online.
Another resident, Rubi Lyn Ramada Rubia, provided timely context, noting that such fraudulent schemes tend to proliferate during the holiday season. "Maraming mga masasamang loob na mga makakapal ang apog. Mag ingat tayo kadavnor," she commented, warning fellow Davao del Norte residents to be extra careful.
Adding to the chorus of warnings, another online user pointed out that it is highly out of character for Governor Jubahib to directly contact individuals to request personal information. They advised the public to exercise extreme caution, even if a social media profile bears the governor's photograph, as these can be easily stolen and misused by scammers.
