PNP Intensifies Cyber Patrol vs Fake News During 3-Day Assemblies
PNP Boosts Cyber Patrol vs Fake News in Metro Manila

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has directed its Anti-Cybercrime Group to strengthen cyber patrol operations targeting online content creators who might exploit the upcoming three-day assemblies in Metro Manila.

Enhanced Online Monitoring

Acting PNP chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. issued the order specifically aimed at content creators who post and spread fabricated information designed to encourage people to violate laws. The intensified cyber patrol will focus on identifying and taking action against those manipulating online platforms during the assembly period from November 16, 2025.

Freedom of Speech with Responsibility

In an official statement, Nartatez emphasized that while the PNP respects freedom of speech regarding public complaints, this freedom comes with limitations. The police chief specifically highlighted restrictions against posting fake news and fabricated reports intended to deceive and mislead the public.

Nartatez clarified that the directive aligns with the PNP's ongoing efforts to maintain peace and order while ensuring constitutional rights are exercised responsibly. The measures aim to prevent activities that could endanger public safety or disrupt lawful assemblies.

Multi-Platform Police Presence

The PNP will maintain visibility not only in physical assembly areas and roads but also across cyberspace, according to Nartatez. This comprehensive approach enables authorities to pursue individuals who attempt to take advantage of the situation by spreading misleading information through fake news and manufactured claims.

The police initiative represents a proactive step toward maintaining digital integrity during significant public events, ensuring that online platforms aren't weaponized to disrupt peaceful gatherings or manipulate public perception.
