PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group Warns Public Against Fake General Solicitations
PNP Warns: Scammers Posing as Police Generals for Donations

The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) has issued an urgent public warning against individuals who are sending solicitation messages through social media platforms while pretending to be high-ranking police officials.

Scammers Impersonating Police Generals

In an official statement released on November 21, 2025, Police Brigadier General Wilson Asueta, head of the ACG, strongly advised the public to remain extremely cautious of this emerging scam pattern. He explicitly stated that the ACG does not conduct any form of solicitation through social media or any other channels.

The Philippine National Police reinforced this message, clarifying that their organization never solicits money, donations, fees, or any type of payment for services rendered to the public.

How the Scam Operates

The warning came after the ACG received a formal complaint from a citizen who received a chat message allegedly from a police general. The message requested a donation for victims of recent calamities, making the appeal appear legitimate and urgent.

If you receive any message asking for money in the name of police officials, it is definitely a scam or fraud, the ACG advisory emphasized.

The PNP reiterated that all forms of solicitation are strictly prohibited within their agency, and any such requests should be considered fraudulent.

Reporting and Regional Preparedness

The public is encouraged to report these fraudulent activities immediately to their nearest police station or local Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit for swift action.

Although police in Central Visayas haven't received specific reports about this modus operandi yet, the Police Regional Office 7 has confirmed they are fully prepared to address any complaints that may arise.

With the holiday season approaching, the PNP additionally warned that social media crimes typically increase during this period, putting innocent people at greater risk if they aren't sufficiently careful.
