Globe Telecom Inc. has demonstrated sustained recovery momentum during the third quarter of 2025, reporting impressive growth in service revenues fueled by increasing data consumption and resilient consumer spending patterns across the Philippines.
Strong Financial Performance
The telecommunications giant recorded P41.5 billion in service revenues for the July-September period, marking a solid three percent increase compared to the previous quarter. This upward trajectory highlights the company's successful navigation of market challenges and its ability to capitalize on the nation's growing digital demands.
Mobile data services emerged as the standout performer, achieving an unprecedented milestone with revenues reaching P25.2 billion - the highest level in Globe's history. Simultaneously, the broadband segment maintained its growth streak, climbing four percent to P6.1 billion as more Filipino households and businesses embraced reliable internet connectivity.
Profitability and GCash Contribution
While the company's net income for the first nine months of 2025 stood at P17.7 billion, reflecting a 14 percent decrease from the same period last year, Globe maintained strong operational efficiency. The company's EBITDA reached P64.2 billion with an impressive 52.8 percent margin, underscoring effective cost management and operational excellence.
GCash, operating under Globe's fintech subsidiary Mynt, continued to prove its strategic value by contributing P5.3 billion to Globe's overall earnings. The digital wallet platform accounted for a substantial quarter of Globe's pre-tax income, demonstrating its crucial role in the company's financial ecosystem.
Leadership Perspective and Future Outlook
Globe President Ernest Cu expressed strong confidence in the company's strategic direction, particularly highlighting GCash's performance. He described the fintech platform as a "crown jewel" that successfully combines financial inclusivity with profitability as it expands across multiple sectors including payments, lending, and insurance services.
Despite intensifying competition in the Philippine fintech landscape, Globe anticipates that GCash will remain a key growth driver in the coming quarters. The company's diversified approach to digital services positions it well to maintain its recovery momentum while addressing the evolving needs of Filipino consumers and businesses in an increasingly digital economy.
