Globe Races to Restore Connectivity After Typhoon Tino's Wrath
Telecommunications giant Globe Telecom is intensifying its efforts to support communities devastated by Typhoon Tino, focusing on accelerated restoration across the Visayas and Mindanao regions. The company has mobilized technical teams on the ground and activated essential emergency services to aid affected residents.
Network Restoration Nears Completion
Significant progress has been made in bringing communication services back online. Globe services are now fully restored in Palawan, a major milestone for the island province. Meanwhile, in the Visayas, the company has achieved an impressive 97.5 percent network restoration rate.
Full network services have been successfully re-established in multiple provinces, including Aklan, Antique, Biliran, Bohol, Capiz, Eastern Samar, Guimaras, Northern Samar, Siquijor, Negros Oriental, and Iloilo. Globe's technical teams remain deployed across the remaining affected sites, working tirelessly to ensure that full connectivity is restored to all areas as quickly as possible.
Community Relief and Libreng Tawag Stations
Beyond infrastructure repair, Globe is providing direct humanitarian assistance. The company has set up Libreng Tawag (Free Call), Libreng Charging, and Libreng Wifi (LTLCLW) stations to help residents communicate with loved ones during this critical time.
In partnership with the Ayala Foundation Inc. (AFI) through its Brigadang Ayala program, Globe is also extending vital relief aid. An initial distribution saw 1,000 food packs delivered to Barangay Dumlog in Talisay City and Barangay Bonbon in Cebu City. A second wave of aid was deployed in Negros Occidental, with 400 food packs distributed in Isabela and another 600 in Binalbagan.
Globe continues to coordinate closely with local government units to identify and reach more families in need across the Visayas and Mindanao, preparing for wider relief operations in the most severely impacted areas.
