Five individuals were arrested after being caught engaging in illegal spider fighting in Sityo Tugas, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, around 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 25, 2026.
The Mambaling Police Station identified the suspects as alias Dave, 19; alias Dex, 35; alias Budoy, 53; alias Roly, 30; and alias Roel, 37.
According to the investigation, police conducted an anti-illegal gambling operation in the area as part of a campaign against all forms of illegal gambling.

Seized evidence included an improvised table serving as a fighting arena, four improvised containers holding 20 live spiders, and bet money amounting to P390.
The suspects are scheduled to face charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (Illegal Gambling Law) in court.
