Police arrested a 32-year-old cockfight attendant during a buy-bust operation past 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Sitio Cambanog, Barangay Balud, Dalaguete town.
The suspect, identified as Diego Brizo Vergara Jr., alias “Nano,” married, and a resident of the area, is now detained at the Dalaguete Police Station while charges are being prepared.
Operation Details
In an interview with SunStar Superbalita Cebu, Major Vincent Zozobrado, chief of the Dalaguete Police Station, said the operation was launched after they received information about the suspect’s illegal activities. A poseur-buyer purchased one pack of shabu worth P500 from alias Nano.
Upon search, authorities recovered an additional 15 packs and four medium-sized packages of suspected shabu from the suspect. The total weight of the seized drugs reached 8 grams, with an estimated value of P54,400.
Legal Proceedings
Vergara is currently in police custody, and appropriate charges are being readied for filing in court. The Dalaguete Police continue to intensify their anti-drug operations in the area.
