The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao Region (DSWD-Davao) has announced that its Guarantee Letter (GL) is now accepted at selected Mercury Drug branches across the region, allowing beneficiaries to purchase prescribed medications directly from the pharmacy.
Expanded Access for AICS Beneficiaries
DSWD-Davao stated that beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program can now use the GL at participating Mercury Drug outlets. These branches display a sign reading, “DSWD Guarantee Letter is accepted here.” In a Facebook post on June 22, 2026, DSWD-Davao wrote, “Padayon ang DSWD Field Office-Davao Region sa pagpalapad sa access sa mga serbisyo nga makatabang sa mga pamilyang nanginahanglan og suporta,” which translates to “The DSWD Field Office-Davao Region continues to expand access to services that help families in need of support.”
Participating Branches by Province
The following Mercury Drug branches in Davao City accept the DSWD GL: Davao-Lapu-Lapu, Davao-Mintal, Davao-Bajada, Davao-Sales, Davao del Sur-Davao City Lacson, and Davao del Sur-Davao City Ateneo Business Center. In Davao del Sur, the branches are Davao del Sur-Digos City Estrada 1st and Davao del Sur-Bansalan Poblacion Dos. For Davao del Norte, the branches include Davao del Norte-Tagum City CityMall and Carmen Ising. In Davao Oriental, the participating outlets are Mati-Mati and Lupon C. Tuballa. In Davao de Oro, the designated branch is Davao de Oro-Nabunturan Poblacion.
Purpose of the Guarantee Letter
DSWD-Davao explained that the GL is an official document issued by the department that serves as a guarantee of payment for medicines and other medical services for qualified DSWD clients. Nationwide, approximately 262 Mercury Drug branches now accept the DSWD Guarantee Letter, enabling AICS beneficiaries to access their medications more conveniently.
Partnership Resumption and Future Goals
The resumption of the partnership between DSWD and Mercury Drug aligns with the department’s objective to expand beneficiaries’ access to medicines and medical assistance. DSWD continues to strengthen collaborations with other private institutions to make social services more accessible, efficient, and responsive, particularly for vulnerable sectors. This initiative is part of broader efforts to streamline the distribution of aid and reduce barriers to essential healthcare.
