Iloilo City Police Arrest 37 in Anti-Gambling Drive

Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), announced the arrest of 37 individuals and the filing of 30 criminal cases following a month-long anti-illegal gambling campaign conducted across Iloilo City from May 1 to May 31, 2026.

Operations and Charges

The operations targeted various districts of the city, leading to violations of Republic Act (RA) 9287 and Presidential Decree (PD) 1602. Authorities confiscated a total of PHP 15,171 in cash bets during the period.

Parilla emphasized the detrimental effects of illegal gambling, stating, "Illegal gambling destroys discipline, affects family welfare, and contributes to disorder in the community. We will continue to intensify our operations against all forms of illegal activities to ensure a safer and more peaceful Iloilo City."

Commitment to Public Order

The ICPO reiterated its commitment to sustain enforcement efforts against illegal gambling and other unlawful activities. The campaign aims to curb activities that undermine public order and negatively affect communities.

Police noted that illegal gambling can have adverse effects on individuals and families, potentially leading to community disorder if left unchecked. Authorities encourage residents to cooperate by reporting illegal gambling activities through emergency hotline 911 or ICPO hotlines at 0908-377-0194 and 335-0299.
